Pre 9-11 was much easier. In fact, I rarely saw a border patrol car. Now
they're common.

Part of the problem is that there are three US agencies that don't really
communicate as well as they should. Also, my assumption is that there was
probably a lot of finger pointing after 9-11 and everyone is sensitive.

Not to mention that we were poking around near the anniversary. And during
a stage orange terrorist alert. Whatever that means...

And the fact that the media has been testing controls on the border, and
they dislike media folks for making them look bad. I guess we got lumped in
with that.

And a lot of these people are imported from other places -- like the
Mexico-US border where controls were/are much stricter.
