The line of demarcation was 370 leagues west of the Azores - Portugal
got the bit between 370 and 100 leagues west (if not already owned by
a Christian king) and Spain got the territory to the west, with a
similar proviso. Based on a Papal Bull by that most trustworthy of
popes, Alexander VI (= Rodrigo Borgia), but still being quoted by
Chile and Argentina to support their claims in the Antarctic Peninsula.
