Fabio, how many years ago did you see a big American airport and where
was it? To my knowledge, there are no U.S. bases in foreign countries
anymore that are either occupied territory or properties over which
the U.S. is the "private" owner.

You can visit the U.S. State Department's website where there is a
division that builds diplomatic buildings overseas. I'm sure I don't
have the numbers right, but the website stated that there are
thousands (3,000+?) of U.S. properties (not including the cemetaries)
that it administers in well over a hundred countries for dozens of U.
S. government agencies. We don't have that many embassies and
consulates, so there must be a lot of other items in the inventory
(probably including residences that are oftens separate properties
away from the consulates and embassies themselves, but which are
dependencies of theses diplomatic outposts). Unfortunately, no list
is made public for good reason.
