thanx dallen
this confirmation of a totally invisible state line as recently as last
year is a valued addition because our info wasnt nearly so fresh
til now

& it appears our hopes for a class a visit thus boil down to the
following diminishing probabilities
1
finding a trace of the initial point
or of any other turnpoint for that matter
which the survey crew may have intentionally or inadvertently left
on the ground as long as 8 years ago
2
or finding that some government agency
most likely of the proud winning state of new jersey
has somehow decorated or commemorated the site of this hard
won beachhead on the island with a historic plaque etc
subsequent to your visit
3
or somehow managing to attract someone with a sufficiently
powerful gps receiver
such as our informant from the njdep
to actually join the party & bring their killer toy with them
so we could use it to properly nail the point in 5 decimal places
of degminsec

but short of those miracles
we should still be able to zero in to within probably a few inches
of absolute truth at the initial point or any point on the boundary
without benefit of any gps but just by using our 1 to 900 scale
blueprint map
for a class b visit to almost anywhere on the line we might like

& it could also be great fun to extraperambulate this entire half
mile of state line
the only state line so doable with dry feet
if not also to intraperambulate the liberty island half mile too
which just happens to be available on the same ferry ticket
i mean while we are out circumambulating claves & all

also our other informant said the line ran right thru the middle of
the gift shop when he was there some years before you
so perhaps they have adjusted the layout &or deliberately placed
all the actual cash flow in one state or the other for some reason
but your observation remains quite shocking & deserves further
investigation in any case
