There is a file in the Public Record Office in London on Jungholz and
Kleinweisertal (sp?) nearby, when they were in the British sector of austria
post-war. The inhabitants relied on tourism for income and by using the
national border as the customs border this was a great hassle for tourists
from Germany (the more accessible side), and the inhabitants were
petitioning the military occupying authorities to revert to the established
customs frontier of before the war, where both were inside Germany's customs
area, though sovereigntally part of Austria. Several reports in the file
mention Jungholz being joined at a point and several say it was a connection
only a few metres wide.

I will check my map collection now i am home again.
