Hi,

My names Andrew, I'm from Scotland and have been following posts
for a while with interest.

I've unfortunately not been to as many borders as I'd like!

But on a holiday to Cyprus two years ago, we drove North from
Paphos to try to get to Kato Pyrgos which is directly on the
Green Line.

As you approach Kokkina, the road turns sharply right away from the
shore to go round the enclave. Then, you can see signs saying
'No Photographs - military area' etc. as you climb the hill.

You then can clearly see some border markers on the left hand side
of the road which I imagine marks the UN Boundary. After this there
was a junction and I turned left towards the sign for Kato Pyrgos.

To my surprise, there was a border station manned with who I found
out later were Argentinian peacekeepers. I think it would have been
OK to carry on through this but I 'Chickened out' and turned in the
opposite direction in case I had made a mistake. In hindsight I
think I should have carried on, as you must have to travel a short
distance through the UN buffer zone to get to KP.

Next time I will do this!

Also, I have a photo which I will try to post which shows a large
Turkish flag on the hillside of Kokkina, which can clearly be seen
from the Greek side.
