i agree<br/>
yet negotiated & adjudicated boundaries probably depart from <br/>
the theoretical norms more often than not<br/>
when various other considerations are factored into the equation<br/>
as they almost always must be in practice<br/>

like maybe finland got this concession from the soviets in <br/>
exchange for conceding the territory of the island itself<br/>
if it was ever in question<br/>
&or as compensation for claiming such modest territorial waters <br/>
on both coasts it shared with its otherwise dominant neighbor<br/>
etc<br/>
