Chris,
Very
nice to hear. The first Lithuanian languaged book («Martynas Mažvydas'
Katekizmusa prasti žadei...» ) was printed on January 8th 1547 at
Werinreich printinghouse in Königsberg, Lithuania Minor in 200-300 copies. The
stories about the book-carriers smuggling Lithuanian languaged books over the
border from Königsberg to Lithuania are just as fantastic, dramatic and romantic
as the stories about the cowboys in the USA. Only around 1900 Russia allowed
Lithuanian languaged books to be printed in Lithuania.
