Interestingly, I was somewhat surprised that near the Peace Arch at the WA/BC border, you can freely cross from the Peace Arch Park in Washington to the town across the border in BC. A town road with houses on the Canadian side runs right along the border and all that shows to mark it are small signs that say something like LEAVING UNITED STATES BORDER. No guards, fences, etc.

I know parts of the US-Canadian border and only marked by cleared forest or remote markers, but I was surprised that in such a populated area I could just walk right across the grass and be in Canada.

The other night, NBC News ran a story about the lack of U.S. Border Patrol personnel on the caus border. Some of the story scenes was a highway divided down its median by the border. I've seen photos of this road before, and believe it's probably in the Point Roberts-Blaine area. If anyone else caught the story, can you identify the name of the highway and it's location? (This may be a question properly aimed at Doug!)
