for help in resolving many of the tackiest problems encountered when trying
to determine tripoint & extremity geopositions that cannot be finally
resolved from bus&ss data & usgs mapping alone
such as for example mnndsd or menhus or absolute mes&nhe
all previously groped for here by members at one time or another
there is now
http://www.usscplus.com/online/subindx/results_subj.asp?subj=256
which gives 187 or presumably all the united states supreme court decisions
relating to interstate boundaries
in reverse chronological order from the most recent to the most ancient with
links to their full texts
many of which postdate the 1976 bus&ss & the pertinent topo quads

so if you just try the first link there for example you will be given the
latest decision of the court & will thus be transported directly to the
piscataqua river for it
yesss
& the most recent menh decision pronounced upon it just there
but you will also get steered to all the earlier menh decisions
namely links number 42 & 48 in this list
which established the temporary & present position of absolute mes&nhe upon
the breakwater at the end of the inner gosport harbor in the isle of shoals
& apparently left them hanging there albeit for still unknown reasons 3nm
shy of the federal territorial seas & thus 3nm shy also of the predictable
prolongation of menh to a terminus at menhus in accordance with the
submerged lands act etc
as you can then also see in map form by dialing up gosport nh at topozone &
studying menh on all 4 scales there

but just being able to put all that together & study the remaining data gap
is of course an enormous help toward ultimately resolving both the mes&nhe
question & the menhus question

or
if you are searching for a particular topic such as mnndsd for example then
you can simply scan the list & see that the court at least has never ruled
on any of the 3 interstate boundaries that terminate there at mnndsd
& thus can conclude that if any change has occurred in the mnndsd position
since its creation it would have had to have been approved by the only other
possible means of ratification
namely the federal congress
whose acts btw may or may not yet also be available in such a format on line
for i dont know about that

but having even only the court decisions finally accessible this way still
represents a distinct help to the seeker in the narrowing of the data gap
& it is at least my guess that the full online texts of the missing
congressional acts couldnt be far behind those of the court
thus closing any remaining data gap entirely

so the future of pointing is already here
or at least almost here
