el paso tx

since bus&ss itself calls the nw corner of the north tx panhandle txnw
& since txw has proved to be a different point than txwn
i took the liberty of distinguishing them all by these names
& was soon blissfully bagging both txwn & txw class a

the latter point is very near the corner of borderland & mcnutt
which latter road then continues almost all the way to chnmtx

our call at chnmtx proved a bit more problematical tho
since we were warned away from a preliminary viewing on mt christo rey
a nearby peak resembling chfrit etc
by 3 carloads of yanko border guards around 10pm several hours after the
following sign had been ignored

mt christo rey
due to thefts & assaults
dont leave valuables & car unattended
ascend in groups of 5 or more
stay on the trail
dont carry valuables
travel at your own risk

so we headed for anapra where we got stuck in the sand & were arrested first
by the railroad police & then by the border guards & were then even bypassed
by barking k9 units when we really thought our number was up but in fact we
were eventually pulled out of the sand by the yankos themselves & of course
they are the nicest guys you could ever want to meet

btw there is no wall at all around here but only a chain link fence around
the pueblos which then vanishes entirely as the boundary jumps over the
mountains

finally tho this morning after we emerged again onto mcnutt aka nm hwy 273
at the corner of crazy sams or 498 we eventually found the brickyard turnoff
continuation of mcnutt just before the rio grande bridge
& btw i should tell you that the critical corner of my topozone print was
missing
so this was a somewhat surprising discovery after all the drama of the night
& then we drove right past the dam & almost directly down to chnmtx
& visited monument 1 of the 267 along that survey sector of mxus spanning
the rio grande & the colorado
& eyeballed the intersection of the mxus line with the rio grande thalweg
so we made it class c
& jc even got her shoes wet there
but while i was taking off my shoes & rolling up my cuffs for a class b
visit along the ankle deep thalweg
a couple of suspicious characters emerged from mexico & their vibe sent us
packing for breakfast & the library from which we havent yet returned

so to sum up
we have hit 3 mxus tristate points class c
& besides the northernmost extremities of baja california bcn & sonora son
we now at least have a string of lottery tickets toward an eventual
chihuahua norte winner as well
for this chn point is another of those that could only be settled by the
precise latitudes of all the mxus monuments along the chn line

the cold front is seriously here tho & should bottom out tonite
so we are seriously southbound for the palindromical millennium

& may all yours be all you desire

m
