I did notice the other odd enclave-type situations on
the map site of Fairfax, but I found the Fairfax City
one interesting Fairfax City being an independent city
is separated from the county, unlike the other
situations I believe. Whether it is a county-level
enclave or offices of one county in another (shades of
Chandigarh), it is curious.
I believe if you go far enough North or South, you
follow some standard time for Sunset or Sunrise. I do
not know what latitude nor where the standard times
originate from (I believe it is Meccan time). You
might want to check the site
http://www.uwm.edu/cgi-bin/burooj/salat.cgi which
gives prayer times. I haven't checked it in detail,
but it should have some information on the
aforementioned standard times.
When mentioning Dutch names, we should not forget the
Kills. Though Staten Island is the area with the most
Kills nearby, I believe Kills show up as far north as
Albany. And I should have mentioned all the names
near Ithaca are Classical (mythological?) Greek or
Roman and not associated with settlers.
