Suriname/Suriname%20GroundWaterMap.pdf
shows the disputed positions for both of the suriname
tripoints
as well as a prospective sr2copasasi
quadridistriktpunkt discovery btw
where districts 3 6 7 & 10 all appear to meet
& which we should investigate sometime too when we are
not so busy
but for now
http://www.voillemont-deiber.qc.ca/images/bornetrijonction.jpg
is said to mark the french position of brfrsr on the
serra tumucumaque
supposedly at the head of the koule or coule coule
river
which the above map calls the litani
while the surinamese position of brfrsr is at the head
of the marowijne on the same serra
the brazilians subscribe to the french position btw
& the encarta depiction agrees
& appears to designate mont mitaraka as the tripoint
peak
http://encarta.msn.com/encnet/features/mapcenter/map.aspx?TextLatitude=39.45&TextLongitude=-98.907&TextAltitude=0&TextSelectedEntity=39070&SearchEnc=false&MapStyle=Comprehensive&MapSize=Large&MapStyleSelectedIndex=0&searchTextMap=mont+mitaraka&MapStylesList=Comprehensive
so because the satpic is so poor
i was reduced to groping for these features largely on
the basis of altitude readings
which produced the frankly speculative but hopeful
result shown on the tripoint stretching diagram
attachment
after i finally settled on the highest peak in the
neighborhood
in the case of the surinamese version of brfrsr
there is no such singular high point to home in on
whether rightly or wrongly
so i didnt even try that one
the situation with brgysr is highly similar
except in that case both head streams are called by
the same name
tho sometimes distinguished as the kutari curuni
courantyne for the guyanese version & the new
courantyne or just the new river for the surinamese
version
& the serra sometimes has a different name but is the
same highlands on which both of the brfrsr positions
are situated too
& again the brazilians are not buying the surinamese
position but favor the guyanese version in this case
http://www.guyanaca.com/suriname/appendix3.html
as do google earth & borderbase
but here i am at an even greater loss to zero in on
either position any better than they have already done
for us
