the tripoint location depends first on whether you
believe india or china about who legally owns the
indian state of arunachal pradesh

as you can see here
http://encarta.msn.com/encnet/features/mapcenter/map.aspx?TextLatitude=27.7167334820879&TextLongitude=91.7004190794879&TextAltitude=7&TextSelectedEntity=7897140&SearchEnc=false&MapStyle=Comprehensive&MapSize=Large&MapStyleSelectedIndex=0&searchTextMap=tawang&MapStylesList=Comprehensive&ZoomOnMapClickCheck=on&ResultsListbox=27.7167334820879%3B91.7004190794879%3B7%3B7897140%3BLumpo%2C+Arun?chal+Pradesh%3BLarge%3BComprehensive
the indian version places the tripoint nw of tawang
while the chinese version places it just north of
udalguri

& just to add a little gratuitous confusion
the soviet topo shows an inscrutible variation on the
chinese version
http://mapy.mk.cvut.cz/data/Centr._Asia/Topo%20maps_500k/G-46-A.jpg

but the indian version
at the western end of the mcmahon line aka the line of
actual control
is more or less the de facto position

even there tho
there is some disagreement about where the line of
actual control actually runs & actually ends

this is partly because the original 1914 mcmahon line
was drawn with a thick tipped pen on a map scaled 8
miles to the inch
thus making the line about a half mile thick in any
case
but also because india claims the line was ineptly
penned in this area several miles south of the thagla
ridge that it was allegedly intended to follow
& which also is in practical terms the most likely
actual line of actual control as well

the mcmahon line properly so called tho is said to
terminate in nlat 27d44m30s

so
while the borderbase pushpin is impeccably positioned
both on the ridge line that unquestionably marks the
eastern limits of bhutan & in the same latitude as the
google earth mcmahon inspired cnin border depicted in
red
it is quite possible that this red line & consequently
this pushpin are still a bit too far north

but rather than waste my tripoint stretching diagram
on such a minor & in any case uncertain quibble about
the chinese version of the indian version of the
tripoint
i have taken the opportunity to stretch the correction
line a few miles farther north instead
albeit more for demonstration than actual correction
purposes
& indeed
all the way to the indian version of the indian
version of btcnine

yes you heard that right

the indian version of the indian version

on the thagla ridge

which probably is the real terminal point of the real
line of control too

except
most often
no one is present anywhere near there to control
anything anyway
