so to continue
i drifted off from grand isle yesterday overland
http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?z=18&n=4954487&e=637909&s=250&size=l&datum=nad83&layer=DRG100
toward chfrgr
the tripoint in my friends living room window
with the intention of continuing toward the horizon
beyond & to the chfrla tripoint in particular
by following along the chittenden franklin county line

which so conveniently proceeds southeastward from the
chfrgr tripoint
on what appears to be the exact same bearing from the
living room

in fact if chfrgr & chfr had been visible
chfr might have been hidden by chfrgr anyway
when viewed from the living room

or in other words
if chfr had continued thru the chfrgr tripoint
it might have run right thru the living room

so not only was the tripoint cosmically made to order
for the window
but so was the continuation from it

nevertheless
that is practically all she wrote in terms of the
ensuing adventure
which proved entirely elusive on many levels

first of all
i couldnt print a copy of the topo at the library
so i was working only from a rough sketch of the
target area & my aaa major road atlas
neither of which was much help

but when it came down to the nitty gritty of actually
finding any trace of the chfr county line on the
ground
it was zilch

no signs
no road seams
no nothing

i realize that that could be in part because the
boundary is indefinite
as are most if not all the county & town lines in
vermont

& indeed
after searching far & wide & hard
i have yet to find any trace of any county lines
anywhere in vermont
let alone any official markers
& perhaps only a single unofficial shire welcome sign

but i was able to proceed with the chfrla try to some
extent anyway
even without benefit of this map centered on it
http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?z=18&n=4944265&e=664666&s=50&size=l&datum=nad83&layer=DRG25
& did manage to completely encircle the tripoint &
reach within a quarter of a mile of it at one point
even if only by wild guessing
for i realize all this only now & with the benefit of
hindsight

but i wouldnt even have known where to stop & park the
car to make a real try for it
while i was actually there circling around it

so
that is an extremely elusive class e
& at this point i would be a little surprised &
delighted if vermont even proves to have any county or
tricounty markers

& in general the counties of vermont appear to be
about as nonfunctional as the counties of connecticut

so perhaps a town tripoint is more likely to be found
in vermont than any specifically tricounty point

but this is all just speculation
& more from the absence of data than with benefit of
any particular indications actually found

well anyway
i have since drifted back home to connecticut
leaving interior vermont still practically virgin
country
but the overall outing is expected to continue after a
brief inning
just to take care of something else that has risen to
the top here
tho apparently devoid thus far of any multipointing
implications
