so anyway heres lelewa the bear
not lelewa the tripoint
attached
& when i got too close to her
before spotting the cub directly above us in the tree
she started to circle around ominously behind me
so i jumped back in the truck since i couldnt bag the
cub anyway
& continued on my merry way

but as i say
lelewa was extremely reclusive

for when i first noticed what i thought had to be the
october mountain road that is marked on the topo
passing by me on the right
it was actually signed schermerhorn road
http://topozone.com/map.asp?z=18&n=4691736&e=645225&s=50&size=l&datum=nad83&layer=DRG25
& after i also noticed a creek & side trail pass by on
my right
substantially corroborating the topo anyway
i decided i would try to climb the next declivity on
the right
hopefully straight up to the tripoint area if i was
getting it all right
even without checking for the lele road stone shown on
the topo

but when no monument appeared in the expected location
i had to doubt again if i was even on the right map
swatch

however
there were some painted blue arrows in the area that
stopped at a tree with 3 painted blue stripes very
neatly girdling it
so i also had to wonder if that wasnt a tripoint tree
but dismissed this notion as too improbable for the
present day & age
tho i am almost sorry i didnt pop a photo of it
& will certainly be looking forward to reading what
the border bible says about this one

also
when i looked at the topo again
i did finally notice one other possible declivity in
the area
which i then realized i could well have been mistaking
for the right one
so this kept me guessing & scrambling around for more
data
until i finally had to give it up & drop down again to
look for the lele roadstone turnstone
from which to try to gain a true fix & distance

& sure enough this lele rock was found to be there on
the ground
confirming i was on the right topo swatch even if
nothing else was working for me on it
& it even offered a blue blaze line along lele toward
lelewa

so i was pretty sure i could still make my point by
following this line up the mountain again
& quite excited for this crack at a quinti culmination
but it soon turned from blue blazes to the same funny
blue arrows that i had just seen leading probably
nowhere elsewhere
which only renewed & multiplied the perplexity

but i followed these arrows anyway just in case

to nothing but a hunting blind in a tree

pop attached in case it was a hunting blind tripoint

& since i figured this area should also have been
close to the tree with the 3 blue rings
i looked for it too just in case another clue could be
had by connecting everything together
but couldnt find it either this time
& finally gave up the try in favor of going to the
library for better data

but at the lee library the internet was so slow & the
visibility so poor etc etc that i had to content
myself with researching only 1 of the 2 blown points
either lelewa or beotty
but not both
since there just wouldnt have been time enough

so i found a back way into beotty
thru tyringham this time rather than otis
thus completely avoiding the problematic area
& raced off to at least complete the quintipopper
class a
which i was able to do in short order as the shadows
fell

pic also attached

there was no time to return to lelewa
nor do i think i will do so without a gps receiver
so i followed the beotty road out the way i had been
trying to come in
only to learn its name was no longer webster there as
my swatch said
but dimmock
dohh

as for whether being out of order was good or bad i
cant say
tho i may be more careful to give myself enough fair
clues in future
except
i probably would not have met the bears if i had been
in any other order than the one i was actually in
& i dont think it cost me the sexipopperdom
since i am still not even sure the 6th point was
attainable in a single day in this case anyway

in any case clearly more data needed
