As a former New Jerseyan I can testify to the inferiority complexes its
inhabitants seem to acquire with regard to NYC and Philadelphia, but picking
on Delaware is an uncommon thing. They should be careful because that's
where all the gunpowder and dynamite originated!

The worse battle was that which took place over Ellis and Liberty islands
due to the strange nature of the jurisdictional matter. As I understand it,
although the de jure boundary is the middle of the Hudson, NY Bay and the
Kill Van Kull/Arthur Kill -- placing the islands within NJ -- NY maintained
defacto jurisdiction over the surface of the waters and any land above them
at low tide, including Ellis and Liberty/Bedloes, right up to the wharfs in
Jersey City, Bayonne, etc. So NJ got stuck with the muck underneath but with
no say over the commerce above it until the Ellis Island resolution
regarding the full areas.

A boundary question: Does anyone know whether the demarcation between East
Jersey and West Jersey was ever monumented on the ground?
