indeed this thorofare may well be the same as <br/>
or a successor to <br/>
the long lost <br/>
horse dyke <br/>
on which perry says the original 1701 arc was centered<br/>
& which he depicts in his figure slightly offshore in<br/>
the delaware river as of 1934<br/>
& indicates to have been situated about 2429 feet on a<br/>
bearing of about s18e from the cupola<br/>

which i also make to be slightly south of this frame <br/>
in about 20 feet of water at mean sea level today<br/>

one reason why this hypothetical point of origin still<br/>
remains so hypothetical in my mind<br/>
even with the perry data in hand <br/>
is that an alternative explanation to the abrading &<br/>
lengthening survey chain <br/>
for the regular increase in the radius of the arc<br/>
traveling west to east<br/>
is <br/>
that the true & still unknown point of origin of the<br/>
survey could actually have been situated farther to<br/>
the northeast than anyone has previously supposed<br/>
& still have been on dry land on the horse dyke as of<br/>
1701<br/>
& that the rate of abrasion & lengthening of the<br/>
chains was not nearly so great as has been previously<br/>
supposed<br/>

but i am still playing with the maths that would be<br/>
necessary to advance this idea in earnest <br/>
& thus reverse the supposed direction of the 1701<br/>
survey from counterintuitive eastbound <br/>
back to a seemingly more natural westbound<br/>

& of course a third & completely bogus center point<br/>
also exists & is shown by perry alongside the 2 real<br/>
ones<br/>
& it was created mathematically by graham in 1850 to<br/>
tie the demd arc to the depa arc via the wedge arc<br/>
but that one promises to become of interest only when<br/>
we turn to the west end of depa in pursuit of the<br/>
ghost arcs that predate his mischief<br/>
& which we can still hope hodgkins &or other<br/>
historical sources will illuminate<br/>
