indeed this was mentioned as recently as this morning in 16638

& there is a similar but smaller & less well known piece of
delaware connected to new jersey behind the salem nj nuclear
plant where they dump their waste

i have visited both of them

with luck you will be able to see killcohook at the top & the other
bit sticking up at the bottom of this topo frame

hmm
i wonder if it was so unintentional tho

the border there was formerly the natural riverbank itself

so they couldnt have added any backfill that converted any wet
new jersey into dry new jersey

& i imagined all these additions were to protect the new jersey
bank below them from the ravages of floods

the dirt could easily have been dredged from the river too

but like mark twain i dont really know either
