& which did in fact arrive here late last year<br/>
has finally been caught up with & examined by me<br/>

& with all due fanfare & drumroll<br/>
the new improved coordinates <br/>
for the primary target or cayambe summit point <br/>
carefully measured & computed from this best available<br/>
map to the nearest degminsec<br/>
which is something less than a 100 foot square <br/>
are<br/>

&<br/>
wlong 77deg 59min 07sec<br/>

or to the nearest degminsecdec<br/>
which is something less than a 10 foot square<br/>
are<br/>

i am not sure yet which of these levels of refinement<br/>
is properly applicable to the 50000k map scale<br/>
with my measurements having been visually estimated to<br/>
the nearest quarter of a millimeter<br/>

my sense & feeling are that the nearest tenth of a<br/>
second is indeed significantly measurable at this<br/>
scale<br/>
so i will go with that for now<br/>
but would love to hear from our mathematicians &<br/>
cartographers on whether to properly round such<br/>
potentially spurious refinement back to the nearest<br/>
integral degminsec anyway<br/>

& the only better way i can think of to really resolve<br/>
this issue or further refine this point would be to<br/>
lay a professional grade gps receiver on the summit<br/>
<br/>

also confirmed on the map is a summit altitude of 5790<br/>
meters<br/>

but in any case the degminsecdec coords for the<br/>
antipodes <br/>
or the secondary & essentially derivative target <br/>
in lowland sumatra<br/>
for which the topo still hasnt arrived <br/>
but no matter<br/>
are accordingly<br/>

& can accordingly be rounded off too if necessary<br/>

& the still unknown exact altitude of this sumatran<br/>

distance thru the center of the earth between these<br/>
farthest flung antipodes on earth<br/>
down to the nearest meter perhaps<br/>

but that is the only remaining significant loose end<br/>
in this overall try<br/>

i will wait to scan & post both topo swatches at once<br/>
since it will be easier & they will make more sense<br/>
that way too<br/>

& how much longer could it take for the second one to<br/>
arrive from sumatra anyway<br/>

but clearly some flourish of congratulation would not<br/>
be premature at this point <br/>
& special thanx are already due anyway to len for<br/>
precipitating this whole try <br/>
however inadvertently<br/>

& to mike for stacking all the extra height etc<br/>
& to many other contributors too i believe <br/>
who must have helped even if just by being here<br/>
