tried valiantly to fall asleep with my head pillowed on kytnva &
spine along tnva for 3 hours this afternoon
during my favorite nap time yet too
figuring success would be a snap

but as the gazebo is now heavily populated by hornets
even advanced relaxation & sunbathing techniques etc could only get
me moderately drowsy & dreamy

& tho i did nearly drift off several times at long intervals
& my epiglottis even seemed to begin trembling once or twice
as night began to fall i knew i was just too excited by the try
& my senses too keen from the beautiful day
& my bed of paving stones already too chilly
to induce any further torpor

suffice to say the entire interlude was fantastically enjoyable
& i certainly packed plenty of good daydreaming in
even if the desired sleep dreaming state did prove elusive

fortunately
in one sense
ron never showed up to congratulate me

indeed i was the only visitor in the guest register all day
tho the previous 5 days had averaged 23 visitors per day

making it seem as if the day had been cosmically reserved for the try

but anyway
an unexpected bonus was a previously overlooked signpost with news
that the tripoint had been mediated in 1802 & confirmed by the
supremes in 1903

this could shed light on whether the 2 tips of the arrowhead are
really geodetic lines as the monument & mike suggest
or whether they are still really natural ridge lines as bus&ss & the
usgs topo suggest

of course i look forward to a future try

the climb gets easier every year

or else maybe i am just getting bigger

i see how it could easily become a regular migration ritual tho

&
n o w
i am really getting sleepy

so beepy dreams

ps
lots of female collegians around here
to put it euphemistically
