yes they do appear to be the drainage divide

& yes it might either take or not take fine scale turns within a few
feet etc
depending on whether it is a natural drainage divide like say idmt
or a fully rationalized divide like we just saw at vawv

but in either case
the very definite 60 or 80 feet of perfectly straight state lines the
nps has indicated for all 3 convergent borders here if accurate would
definitely have been visible in that same configuration on the usgs
topo

so somebody is playing fast & loose with reality here
& i suspect it is just the nps that has taken poetic &or artistic
license

& perhaps justifiably so
as this arrowhead is such a poignant conceit & makes a nice point
even if isnt literally true

also a sign here in huntsville tn

independent state of scott

united states senator andrew jackson delivered a speech at the
courthouse here on 4 june 1861 against separation

at the election 4 days later scott county voted against separation by
the largest percentage margin of any county in tennessee

later that year
in defiance of the states action of secession
the county court by resolution seceded from the state & formed the
free & independent state of scott

now i am aware that there was a substantial chunk of secession from
secession surrounding predominantly the algatn area
& now i see it also evidently spread far afield

so i am curious if the full extent of reverse secession is assembled
& shown anywhere on a map
or if this isnt perhaps too multifarious & evanescent a topic to
surround in such a way
