For those people in Europe, etc. who are mystified, I wrote "county-equivalent"
because the creatures of the state known as counties in almost all other states
are known as parishes here in Louisiana.

The Lafayette/Vermilion parish boundary, under dispute somewhere along it's run,
has a tripoints at each end, one with Acadia Parish and one with Iberia Parish.
The former is a watercourse confluence, and the latter is the junction two
geodesic lines. I do not know where the disputed segment is located, but I will
try to learn.

This particular situation is rather unusual in that the line that Lafayette
Parish wants to confirm actually favors Vermilion Parish with territory.
Vermilion is not complaining! The complaints come from the handful of residents
of the vague area.
