Jack,

the photo was taken on the Needles highway, further
west of the 95. I hadn't planned on visiting the tp
when i had originally planned the trip to vegas and
car trouble and the lack of a good map made my quest
just a short one.

looking at this map,

it turns out you are probably right, the actual tp is
probably just to the right of this photo, to the
south.

at any rate, bj's photos are much better than mine is
but i there is definitely 3 states visible in the
photo
