      I checked French topo sheet #29, at 1:100 000 (Serie Verte) and although the source and St Germain-sur-Seine are marked, there is no indication of Paris City

      Yes, I ve seen that map too. It seems to indicate that the source is in the municipality of Poncey-sur-l Ignon. A 1:25k map will be more precise, of course.
