Hej Mats,
thanks for your most interesting info on DeLu!
Conc. possible condominiunms between Austria
and Germany: NO, not to my knowledge, never
heard of...- there are, however, some rivers (Salzach,
Inn) that form the border, so any islands in these
rivers could possibly be a condo... but I doubt it...
I'll be reading the "Grenzverträge" conc. this border (I do have most of the Austrian border descriptions)
Regards - hilsen
Peter

[BoundaryPoint] DELU condo origins I have procured a copy of the "Grenzvermessung Deutschland-Luxemburg" from the Landesvermessungsamt of Rheinland-Pfalz. I don't know if this is old news by now, but it seems that the condominum stems from the Grenzvertrag vom 26. Juni 1816 zwischen die Niederlande und Preussen. The first paragraph of Article 27th says (my translation): Everywhere where waterways constitute the border, shall the waterway belong equally to both states, unless otherwise is specifically stated. In an interesting note (note 87, page 53) the condominium situation is compared to other such situations, and the border between Germany and Austria is mentioned. Is there another condominium down there? Does anyone know? Should we hunt for it? Mats Your use of Yahoo! Groups is subject to http://docs.yahoo.com/info/terms/ |
