Not deflected, but Lake Chad being a very salty one with fluctuating
amounts of water (+salt) in it, there are possibly (also fluctuating)
amounts of land that are cut by the boundary.

Not unlike the Aral Sea, actually, although not fluctuating but
diminishing (water) and increasing (land) is the problem here. In my
old atlas, Vozrozhdenie Island is still in its entirety part of
Uzbekistan, but I believe the water levels have dropped that much,
that the island (and probably other islands as well) has become much
bigger, so that it now has a Kazakh part as well. The Aral Sea
boundary looks like a very straight one, though. Does anyone know
whether the boundary is marked on the new part of Vozrozhdenie? Or is
it that both states just don't want to know, embarrassed as they are
(probably not; as they should be is better wording) by the ecological
disaster taking place here?

Yes I know what you mean. The viscosity of these waves is huge, I
think. What substance is this? No salt water...
