http://ecole.nevache.free.fr/PageUniq/frontier.htm shows another handsome
old international rock evidently still functioning as a french interregional

contemporary interregional boundaries like the french alsace lorraine line
just revisited at breitenstein etc may generally resemble roman
interprovincial boundaries in their manner of internalizing former
international frontiers

& to that extent they may represent our last best hope for hunting down the
oldest of formerly world class but still working rocks

http://dalmatia.net/belmonte/renaissance/a1493eu.gif shows the france savoy
international boundary dating from around 1493
& sets an approximate limit on the possible age of this stone

whether it actually is so old i dont know
but it looks like it could be pretty old

& thus it could also be in the running for oldest working rock
the category where i believe we were most recently treated to a 1540
tho i cant honestly recall the true state of the art in this case

for now this rock just makes a good companion for all those wingen rocks
