dry multipoints are generally pretty easy to find because they are usually monumented especially if they are of major importance

but laorospo tho probably marked is a model of inconstancy & change

in addition when bill first found the blue dot in the center of the 3 inch cement square that he originally identified as the marker last spring & that we still believe is the true marker tho it is now spray painted orange & festooned with survey tape
we were working almost completely blind

we had no usgs topo tho we later acquired it to check our work

in those days topozone had not yet arrived
& a good 25k or 100k topo cost 7 or 8 bucks & a few weeks delay

we had delorme but at 150k scale it is unreliable for try pointing & often misleading
as was in fact the case in this instance

we had bills gps receiver but selective availability had not yet been liberated from the pentagon
so it was of course a much cruder tool

& by comparison with what is possible today less than a year later we were working almost completely in the dark

not that there is anything bad about that

indeed dumbing oneself down & working more in the dark than necessary can be much more fun
& i heartily recommend it

i am being torn away from this computer now
so i must continue this later
