Please find attached map of DEDK history:

Present border (1920) in the middle by Flensburg
1864-1920 border: south of Ribe and north of Christiansfeld

Pre 1864 DK-Schleswig border was north of Ribe to Kolding
Middleage border: Eider river, bear in mind countries were not countries as
we know them today.

The duchy of Schleswig became German-friendly and so the queen started
buying land for the real Kingdom of Denmark, and thus created the enclaves
(labeled NJE) seen just above present border, around Ribe, and some islands.
The enclaves are shown very simplified, and could be just properties,
buildings etc. I imaging very much Baarle style. Even though DK and
Schleswig were under the same state, there were a customs border, different
laws etc.

When Denmark lost the war in 1864 the dutchy og Schleswig ceased to excist
and became Germany. The enclaves also became German (unfortunate for border
freaks :-) ). The enclaves were traded for other land, for example 8
parishes betwen Kolding and Chrstiansfeld, actually the triangle area in
between the two borders on the map.

I March I travelled along the 1864-1920 border photografing all the old
border crossings. I also visited the old DK-Schleswig border (inside
Kolding), the DK-Schleswig customs border, and tried to find an enclave
border.

I will post photos if any of you are interested.
