yes jack i am pretty sure aroktx is well within the river today
owing to an avulsion or sudden major shift in the bed subsequent to 1923
& that it is no longer on the south bank where it was originally
& i believe this usgs topo has it just about right
http://terraserver.microsoft.com/image.aspx?t=2&s=12&x=452&y=4653&z=15&w=1

the attached class c pix are centered on the tripoint facing northwest from
texas toward oklahoma on the far shore

the tree in the top photo is the first one in the long windrow that is
clearly depicted on the topo as a line of black dots within the green band
trailing away from the tripoint toward the southeast

indeed it was the alignment of this windrow that locked me on to the
tripoint position
as i had only the map for navigational aid

the second photo is just a closer & clearer view of the tripoint position
along the same windrow alignment
but with the leading tree now behind the camera

it is noteworthy that with the river at flood stage the islands on the topo
are fully submerged
