owing to an avulsion or sudden major shift in the bed subsequent to 1923<br/>
& that it is no longer on the south bank where it was originally<br/>
& i believe this usgs topo has it just about right<br/>

the attached class c pix are centered on the tripoint facing northwest from <br/>
texas toward oklahoma on the far shore<br/>
<br/>
the tree in the top photo is the first one in the long windrow that is <br/>
clearly depicted on the topo as a line of black dots within the green band <br/>
trailing away from the tripoint toward the southeast<br/>
<br/>
indeed it was the alignment of this windrow that locked me on to the <br/>
tripoint position<br/>
as i had only the map for navigational aid<br/>
<br/>
the second photo is just a closer & clearer view of the tripoint position <br/>
along the same windrow alignment<br/>
but with the leading tree now behind the camera<br/>
<br/>
it is noteworthy that with the river at flood stage the islands on the topo <br/>
are fully submerged<br/>
