This is interesting. US border guards are NOT allowed to pass the actual border while on duty at either the US-Mex or US-Canada. In fact, here in Arizona, there have been several cases in the last few years of US border patrol officers being fired from their jobs because they crossed into Mexico by only a couple of meters to turn their vehicles around!

By the way, there's also an international golf course on the US-CA border in North Dakota and Saskatchewan (or was it Manitoba??).

Sorry that I did not respond to this message before - last month I have been very busy.
I was writing "«neutral territory»" (sic!), and I understood it like border guards from all the three countries accepted that visitors from any country were _unofficially_ allowed to enter the platform without any formalities. Of course this is no official statement and must be "taken for what it is".
I do not agree with Karolis! Border officials (and their guests) may pass the actual border while in duty according to agreement (not included in the referred agreement which only concerns the building of the platform!) between the bordering states. Therefore I - neither the border guards - have not penetrated the border illegally on our expeditions to the tripoints.
