the square symbol covering the tripoint there indicates what used to be a <br/>
little brass pin & tall pole<br/>

these are no longer present<br/>
but jack has a great pic of the pole circa 1991 in message 347<br/>
& describes the pin in his book<br/>
for which please see the bp files under parsell & refer there to point 19<br/>
<br/>
the tower stands centered at about the lower right corner of the adjacent <br/>
triangular mark on the topo<br/>
17 paces or about 51 feet due west of what is probably the true tripoint <br/>
position<br/>
since the tower is believed to accurately straddle ksok at least<br/>
& since the tripoint is believed to lie on the road centerline perpendicular <br/>
to the tower center<br/>

subsequent visits & changes were reported in messages<br/>
830<br/>
1899<br/>
2535<br/>
& most recently 4865<br/>
<br/>
tho they gave the impression that some new marker was about to be installed<br/>
none of the various objects & marks shown in message 4865 are present any <br/>
longer<br/>
<br/>
the pothole has simply filled up or been filled up with dirt<br/>
<br/>
so i carefully retraced the precise trijunction there in the hard dirt with <br/>
my index finger<br/>
& redimpled the tripoint for all posterity<br/>
& for a very satisfying revisit<br/>
even tho this latest demarcation will probably not survive the next rain<br/>
<br/>
but meanwhile the stone tower<br/>
which has always been labeled kansas on its north face & oklahoma on its <br/>
south face<br/>
presumably correctly<br/>
has recently also been incorrectly labeled missouri on its east face<br/>
oops<br/>
giving the impression that it is the true tripoint marker<br/>
which of course it isnt<br/>
<br/>
so please be aware of this anomaly if you visit<br/>
& be assured that it isnt necessary to climb the tower to make the point<br/>
& please do keep redimpling the true point if you can find it from these <br/>
data<br/>
& let us continue to hope for a real marker some day<br/>
while we continue to enjoy the rare pleasure of renewing an otherwise <br/>
completely forgotten point ourselves<br/>
each time we return<br/>
