The longest known palindromic placename is WASSAMASSAW, the name of a
swamp in South Carolina. There used to be a small community near that
swamp also named Wassamassaw. Now there's just the Wassamassaw Church
located a short distance from where that community used to be. At
least that's what the Geologic Survey map shows.

Then there's EKALAKA LAKE, Montana, but you'll have to ask Mike
Donner about that one.
