Last week, without announcement, the Austrian post "finally" took care
of the fact that the Kleinwalsertal and Jungholz had no stamps in
stock to pay the odd postage rates that apply to mail going out from
those areas since the Euro came into use.

The stamps are ugly as sin - yellow rectangles with the denomination
in big block print. There were only 30,000 printed - a miniscule
amount compared to the normal 350,000 of regular commemorative issues.
And, they are not offered through the Austrian Post Office Philatelic
Sales office website. I already tried.

Get them if you can however you can - even general collectors of
Austrian stamps will find there are not enough to go around. They
already sell for 12-15 times face value through dealers, and copies
legitimately used on envelope will be really scarce. If anyone vcan
offer me any at a decent price, I'm interested - also in First Day Covers.

I'll try to post a photo in the group archive.
