The Shaaba farms might be a bit hard to visit, as most of the area is a closed
off military zone. I would hope to try to get to:
Rajar - a village that's now cut in two by the Lebanese border (causing all
sorts of mayhem)
The "Good Fence" at Metula - it used to be a fairly active crossing between
South Lebanon and Israel though I'm not sure what there is to see there any
more.
Rav Ashi's grave - the border runs right through the grave.
It's quite likely that one or more (or even all) of these sites are off-limits
to civilians. As the spring gets closer I'll start looking into it more
deeply. In any event, I would still like to get back to the Hermon with a
better camera (the last time I was there illesy was a pole one hill over from
me), Hamat Gader (to try to get a better picture of iljosy) and the "Island of
Peace" at Naharayim (Jordanian owned, leased to Israel).
If I wind up going I'll be sure to take plenty of photos.
Asher
