> but why cant we find this freakin treaty text & settle it

a summary of what i have been able to discover & suppose

the original partition of st martin was agreed upon in 1648
when france got the lions share of the island
either because a frenchman won a walking contest
or because of a greater french naval presence

but the boundary was repeatedly violated from both sides
& the parts underwent 16 changes of flag involving 4 countries
spain & england having also gotten involved in the meantime
before the treaty of 1817 resettled everything once again
probably along much the same lines as the 1648 original

but both treaties & their successors if any are playing hard to find
perhaps because they involve such a small & forgettable place

i wonder if they are even included in the monster boundary treaty
encyclopedia

indeed this might be the ultimate test of just how comprehensive
its hundreds of volumes really are

i have my doubts tho i would like to be surprised

but first i would need to recollect its name & find a copy

i mean unless anyone happens to have a set of them lying about
