thru a hole in a barbed wire fence <br/>
in a remote area between arizona & sonora <br/>
& then drove about 10km on the transmexican highway <br/>
expecting to slip back into the usa thru another hole we had <br/>
scoped out earlier on <br/>

but unexpectedly <br/>
just before the intended exit hole<br/>
we found ourselves approaching a mexican military checkpoint <br/>
which had escaped our notice til then<br/>
because it was tucked behind a hill<br/>
<br/>
& being without papers but with plenty of dope <br/>
it was a hair raising moment <br/>
until i fortunately spotted a roadside shrine to some saint<br/>
just a couple hundred meters before the checkpoint<br/>
<br/>
so i was able to turn off there inconspicuously<br/>
to pay my respects for the still hopefully miraculous rescue<br/>
& then slowly & casually turned back to retravel those 10km <br/>
with one eye on my rear view mirror<br/>
so as to sneak back into the usa thru the first hole<br/>
which btw was not so easy to find from the opposite direction<br/>
<br/>
probably the most foolhardy but fun thing i have ever done<br/>
<br/>
could have lost everything including our freedom<br/>
