Pavement marking:  Quebec to the right -- with the Hurtubise's farmhouse in the background (looking West).
 
As for the VT marker...  I believe it said much the same on the reverse.  I thought I had a pic, but no.  I might have a photograph from the film pictures...
 
As for the signs...  bingo!  You're right...  pics are attached.  Note the Quebec sign is in English -- no french.  This might mean it is a Vermont sign, though I'm sure it was in Quebec.  However, Mike and I did see a Welcome to Vermont sign in Derby Line that was completely inside Quebec -- by at least 30 feet or more.
