Acc. to my info, this was on Feb. 1, 1985.

I think this is because the Faroe islands already had home rule in
1973 and could decide for themselves. Greenland only got home rule in
1979 (May 1st).

The Canary Islands are, as far as I know, a normal Spanish region,
consisting of two provinces, and definitely part of the EU because
they are a part of Spain proper.

Bouvet: it is a "Biland", but whether that means anything in terms of
membership of the EEA I don't know. Well, no one is living there or
doing anything there that might care...
