In the Photos section: The first fruits of my recent DE2 border
experience (not really an expedition - I didn't cover that much of
the borders, i.c. the one between Thuringia and Bavaria in the Rhön
area).

It is about the strange intrusion of Thuringian territory into
Bavaria, that was known to the BGS (West German border guard) as
the "Badehose" (Swimming Trunks). It is located near the Thuringian
village of Frankenheim (the Bavarian territory on the other side is
part of the town of Fladungen). Because of the tininess of this area,
it was ignored by the East German border installations. The area was
overlooked though from a watchtower on Grabenberg hill, so accessing
it from West Germany probably was a bad idea back then (maybe the
area was mined as well, but that I don't know).

I will still add a couple of other pictures there later.
