<div id="ygrps-yiv-745786149">In the Photos section: The first fruits of my recent DE2 border <br/>
experience (not really an expedition - I didn&#39;t cover that much of <br/>
the borders, i.c. the one between Thuringia and Bavaria in the Rhön <br/>
area).<br/>

It is about the strange intrusion of Thuringian territory into <br/>
Bavaria, that was known to the BGS (West German border guard) as <br/>
the &quot;Badehose&quot; (Swimming Trunks). It is located near the Thuringian <br/>
village of Frankenheim (the Bavarian territory on the other side is <br/>
part of the town of Fladungen). Because of the tininess of this area, <br/>
it was ignored by the East German border installations. The area was <br/>
overlooked though from a watchtower on Grabenberg hill, so accessing <br/>
it from West Germany probably was a bad idea back then (maybe the <br/>
area was mined as well, but that I don&#39;t know).<br/>
