On the border between Lithuania and Russia in the Lithuanian town of
Vistytis, on the northern shore of Lake Vistytis we found remainings of a
probably German boundary marker from the 19th century. It is still the only
marker to be found on the present ltru boundary at this place.
The de facto ltru boundary is still the same as the former deru boundary.
(We also found rests of a hexagonal German boundary marker on the southern
shore of the same lake, but of this only 1-2 cm was visible above the
ground.)
On this first mentioned marker I could read "BOCHUM 1877 [] ST". I am not
quite sure if it should read 1877 or 1811. The last two digits are hard to
read. Does somebody have some idea what this means?
