 </span></blockquote>The area was annexed by the City of Alexandria from Fairfax County <br/>
around 1910. It was probably annexed to have enough land to proved <br/>
city services and to get more people to pay for those services. See <br/>
message 5785 for some details on the annexaction.<br/>

Currently the Town of Leesburg is proposing annexing land from <br/>
Loudoun County that would double its size. Leesburg want to cash in <br/>
on the housing boom in that area of Virgina while Loudoun county <br/>
wants a slow development approach. It should be noted that many of <br/>
the influential people in Loudoun coounty are rich people who own <br/>
Horse Farms and Vinyards and do not want any development that would <br/>
change their idyllic lifestyle. (But they do make some great wine <br/>
there including)<br/>
