The recent thread about the Turkish possession in Syria leads me to
ask if anyone knows that happened to the Russian sovereign rights
over it's memorial west of the Brandenburg Gate when the occupation
of Berlin ended? It sits in what was the British sector, and was a
piece of that sector under Russian control, a hundred meters or so
from the former Soviet sector of East Berlin. During the occupation,
Russian guards occupied the grounds of the memorial. Today,
everything is as it was, except that there are no visible guards
there (maybe they were out to lunch at the time I was last there).
It could have been made part of the Russian embassy grounds, so
something similar, but I just don't know.
