<div id="ygrps-yiv-115979233">The recent thread about the Turkish possession in Syria leads me to <br/>
ask if anyone knows that happened to the Russian sovereign rights <br/>
over it&#39;s memorial west of the Brandenburg Gate when the occupation <br/>
of Berlin ended?  It sits in what was the British sector, and was a <br/>
piece of that sector under Russian control, a hundred meters or so <br/>
from the former Soviet sector of East Berlin.  During the occupation, <br/>
Russian guards occupied the grounds of the memorial.   Today, <br/>
everything is as it was, except that there are no visible guards <br/>
there (maybe they were out to lunch at the time I was last there).  <br/>
It could have been made part of the Russian embassy grounds, so <br/>
something similar, but I just don&#39;t know. <br/>
