Ther murder case in the ealry 1970s that clarified the NSW/Vic boundary in
Australia involved a murder where "the butt of the rifle was in Victoria but
the muzzle in NSW". The body was found half in the river, and as the
boundary was defined as the top of left bank, it took some time to establish
which state had authorrity. Initially conivcted in Victoria, the murderer
appealed on the basis of actually committing the crime in NSW. He was
extradited there after the successful appeal, but the subsequent retrial
resulted in a very similar conviction.

When the 'ice man' was found in the Alps about 10 years ago, Italy and
Austria squabbled over whose he was, as he lay very close to the boundary
(which of course was made only hundreds of years after the man had frozen to
death on the mountainside).
