cribbing primarily from jespers link in message 4650
http://www.geocities.com/graenser/tripoints
since it is the only one that embraces all 12 tries
but also from dougs & peters links likewise given in that message
the following are my best kibbitz tries
reported in the sequence actually followed by the expedition

1 czdepl
from the apparent visibility of the depl & czde thalweg boundaries as well
as the also apparent visibility of the dry czpl border beyond the river
my guess is that czdepl lies not where jesper is pointing
since it seems he really means to indicate by this 1 finger not 1 oclock
so much as tp number 1
but rather at about 8 oclock perhaps 5cm to the right of his right thigh
or in other words just a wee bit to the right of center screen
where the conjunction of these two sight lines can at least be imagined if
not precisely visualized in this clear closeup hence class c photo
but i have to wonder why no pic has yet been posted of anyone wading out
the apparently necesssary 3 or 4 meters to claim a class b as in
basically being there visit

in any case a very handsome & effective 3country photo

2 atczsk
i agree it looks like an entirely exemplary class e visit
meaning an e as in excellent but elusive

3 athusk
did anyone notice or envision or finger or sit upon any center dimple
whether express or implied on the top face of the tripoint monument because
that would seem to qualify this visit as an absolute or class a visit while
the photo itself is certainly at least close or class c

4 athusi
ditto the athusk kibbitz just above tho in this case the grander monument
seems to make a class a visit slightly more of a challenge

5 atitsi
ditto the athusk & athusi comments just above

6 atchlin
tho the rhine thalweg cant be read in any of the photos
nevertheless the dry atli line can be followed right thru the center of the
terminal monument into midstream where the tripoint can at least be roughly
envisioned for at least a distant class d or perhaps a closer class c visit
but the apparent shallowness of the stream again provokes the question of
whether anyone attempted to wade out for an unquestionably closeup class c
or even a basic class b visit aka being there

in any case another effective 3country photo

7 atchde
while the numbering diverges here from jespers count & never returns
this is still another successful & quite expansive 3country photo by him
but neither gideon nor i agree with the assertion that the tripoint is
nonexistent since the greater 2 of its 3 parties both in terms of lakeshore
share & general clout do agree that the equidistance default principle is
fully in effect
so one wonders how the least of the 3 parties in both these regards namely
austria can possibly sustain its objections & its patently excessive claims
to a full third share or tridominium of the entire lake constance
& one trusts the photo is still so well designed as to warrant a distant
class d designation
yet also wishes the next expedition will take to the book & the water for a
still closer try

8 chdefr
another handsome 3country job but evidently no advancement on the previous
state of chdefr art
which still begs the question of how to improve on this basic class d visit
to westquaistrasse without advancing into the river

9 defrlu triline
several nice new pix yet no clear improvement on peter smaardijks
groundbreaking class c visit & photo made earlier this year
that being the first known clear & deliberate triline photo try in history
& no further definition so far as i can discern of either defrlulu or delufrlu
the nonidentical twin tripoints that define the basic defrlu condo
ditripunctitriline

10 befrlu
i am finally coming round to agreeing with jesper that the tripoint still
lies today & will continue to lie at the conjunction of the tiny unnamed
almost dry brook reaching the larger stream chiers at the right edge of his
photo because the french authorities maintain in message 4247 that the
rectification of the befr river boundary in the 1970s did not in fact
approach to within 100m of the tripoint & hence couldnt possibly have
displaced the tripoint from the position still faithfully indicated in the
1988 map in message 4252 & in jespers photo

& the fact that that map indicates the socalled bornes 1 as a double
monument also ties in with the pair of monuments that were likewise found &
reported by the expedition near the confluence of these watercourses

as for harrys ditch
well now i think it may just have been an ordinary ditch rather than the
former thalweg of the little befr watercourse that never was rectified as
far as the befrlu tripoint & thus never displaced it

& as for the anticipated ratification of the new treaty by the french
parliament confirming the rectification
it of course wont affect the tripoint position either any more than the
rectification itself affected it

i still have some earlier messages to recheck & will eventually do so but a
clean thalweg junction of the watercourses is what seems to me to mark the
befrlu tripoint at this point
so i would call it a class c or b visit depending on whether anyone got
their feet wet at this precise tee or wye
& will return for a reassessment if warranted

11 bedelu triline
a new high water mark in triline photography & visitation was established
by jespers incredibly clear class c closeup pic of the entire triline which
btw extends not from the tee junction atop the monument in the foreground
but rather only from a bededelu tripoint in the middle of the our river on
that alignment as far as a bedelulu tripoint at the confluence of the
ribbach also sharply visible in the background of his photo

anyone who touched both of these tripoint termini in a full traverse of the
ditripunctitriline may have achieved the first class b visit in history to
this or any triline but there is no photographic evidence of such a try
despite the apparent ease with which it might have been done here

12 bedenl
presumably a routine yet unprecedentedly 7way class a visit & pic

anyway thats how it all seemed to this very grateful & vicarious audience
of 1 but perhaps other witnesses & participants saw things differently
