Let every nation put a single marker in its capitol with exact co-
ordinates known. Then change the boundaries between the countries so
that each country contains only those lands where the closest marker
is the one in the country's capitol.

This would mean, for example, that Canada would be Maine (and some of
the rest of New England), Cuba get florida since all of florida is
closer to havana than DC. Los Angeles ends up in Mexico, which in
turn loses pieces to Guatemala & Belize. France loses land to most of
its neighbors including Andora (which picks up most of SW france).

Anyone know which national capital Anchorage Alaska is closest to?

While China picks up some of Russia, the big winner there is
Kazakhstan. Germany picks up a little bit of Poland, but loses land
to Denmark, Austria and the Netherlands...

Any other neat transfers?

BTW, the only two countries that I can think might stay the same are
Iceland (if you treat Greenland as independent) and New Zealand.
