Yesterday morning there was a fatal train crash in France "near the
border with Luxembourg" which sadly involved the deaths of at least 5
people.

A set of photographs of the aftermath of the collision between the two
trains is online at this URL:

http://cluster.newmedia.lu/photogallery/

About halfway down the page are two photos of interest next to each
other. The first shows a 0.0 km marker showing the start of the
Luxembourg ownership of the line and the second shows a 203.7 km
marker (measured I believe from a zero point at Strasbourg) plus a
sign saying "RĂ©seau SNCF" marking the boundary of the French railway
network.

It would appear therefore that the position of this tragic accident
was literally just metres inside French territory and that the area of
wreckage extends over the border into Luxembourg.
