but of course the thalweg must wiggle around a bit<br/>

so the tripoint must actually be mobile to that extent<br/>
<br/>

there is a bopy witness marker on the north or left<br/>
bank <br/>
at<br/>
s lat 22d13m43s66 & w long 62d38m17s10<br/>
from which the bopy convergent can presumably be<br/>
sighted to its own intersection with the thalweg<br/>
not along its meridian but at an approximate bearing<br/>
of s17w<br/>
to produce a much finer tripoint position at any given<br/>
moment than would be possible by using only the<br/>
integral degminsec value in the above legal definition<br/>
<br/>
& indeed this improvement would whittle the guess down<br/>
from roughly 100 foot accuracy to the correct square<br/>
foot or so<br/>
provided only that the thalweg can be found<br/>
<br/>
& thats lovely<br/>
except <br/>
the 2 resulting tripoint positions wont agree at all<br/>
being more than 3 miles apart as the crow flies <br/>
& much more than that if you go by fish<br/>
<br/>
oops & yikes<br/>

so rather than the usual tripoint stretching diagram<br/>
i am attaching 2 entirely different sorts of satpic<br/>
overlays<br/>
<br/>
the first one plots the stated position of the witness<br/>
marker on the north bank first <br/>
at the little red square near the top of the frame <br/>
& then extends the terminal segment of the bopy<br/>
boundary from the witness marker down to the thalweg <br/>
via the white line <br/>
at the necessary s17w bearing <br/>
& finally places the other little red square at my<br/>
best guessed thalweg position along that alignment<br/>
to produce a first & best guessed position for the<br/>
tripoint<br/>
<br/>
& in the second attachment <br/>
the white overlay line begins from this first guessed<br/>
tripoint position <br/>
& then proceeds eastward or generally downriver from<br/>
there to a second & less refined but still very<br/>
possible guessed tripoint position <br/>
based & centered only on the legal description<br/>
& ignoring the marker entirely<br/>
<br/>
this latter pic thus shows both of my tripoint guesses<br/>
at once<br/>
each of them marked by a little red square<br/>
& connected by the white measuring line<br/>
<br/>
i am not sure which of these positions i prefer <br/>
& can only hope there has been some sort of clerical<br/>
error in the transcription of the coords <br/>
or something silly like that <br/>
that would explain the discrepancy away<br/>
<br/>

but fortunately too the river looks pretty wild<br/>
<br/>
so the truth <br/>
whatever it may be <br/>
probably changes regularly & dramatically anyway<br/>
<br/>
still <br/>
it would be good to know if there has been some<br/>
mistake<br/>
& what the true & fully correct situation actually is<br/>
