the following recent comments may indeed have been too
free
& thus may need to be corrected or at least hedged a
bit
which i have tried to do just beneath them

first it seems new caledonia is no longer considered
outre mer
so please forget the specific bits about domtom or
ultramarine
oops
hard to keep track of french territorial categories

secondly the ilnosu tripoint shown on the map must
indeed be only someones idea
since the location is evidently much more than 12
nautical miles from land
& is thus well beyond normal territorial seas &
tripoints

& finally
i forgot to mention the matthew & hunter island group
which is sometimes considered part of new caledonia
tho it lies several degrees farther east of the
loyalty islands
& is at least claimed by france
even if mostly considered to be vanuatu since 1982

so technically
extremest possible fre might still turn out to be on
hunter island
in 172 east longitude
or rather even somewhere in the seas east of there
depending on whether & how these conflicting claims
are ever resolved
